The cornerstone of the Wolf's Den reads 1831 and it was built for Nicholas Alt who had purchased 117 acres of farmland. In 1831 the barn was built by Phillip Wentling who was a cabinet maker by trade. In 1873 the structure was partially burned and subsequently rebuilt.
The property and the barn changed owners many times and in 1953 was passed down George Wolf Sr. and then his son in 1970. It was George and Carolyn Wolf that turned it into a restaurant the bears their name. The conversion from barn to restaurant while maintaining historical accuracy was done by using two other vintage barns. Thus creating the beautiful building we use today.
The Wolf's Den Restaurant was established in 1972 and served the community and travelers with warmth and charm with their tasty down home cuisine. Sadly, the restaurant closed in 2007 but the building has been exquisitely maintained by the current owner, Pete Titley and many people who absolutely love this building and the spirit of the
Wolf's Den.
